(In Progress) Custom Acreage – 1 ½ Story - Transitional

The Challenge

Design a home in the country that will be able to serve the family now and hopefully a couple more generations. Take a piece of paper that had 1-1/2 years of dreaming/planning and make it work. Create an oversized 4-car garage to fit any truck with room in the front and back for a plow and hitch but still to be able to walk without getting dirty. The need for a lot of natural lights and 2-story ceilings. A place for a baby-grand piano to enjoy throughout the house.

The Solution

A 2-story entry that has both a catwalk and a circular niche for a baby-grand piano and opens into the great room with a bow window that also reaches two-stories.

Galvanized Nails/Screws/Staples

Beautiful Windows for a Great View

Tall two-story ceilings stretch from the entry to the backside of the great room keeping the full stone fireplace from dwarfing the room. The scale of the room is also enhanced by dark wood casing around all of the windows in the curved wall tieing them together to look like one custom unit. The unique fireplace hearth also contributes to the sense of scale by blending with the storage drawers under the TV and floating shelves stretching across the width of the room.

Open Kitchen

The kitchen is open to the great room with an island large enough for the whole family to sit and eat together. The back wall of the kitchen with large stainless steel hood and full height cabinet columns set as bookends to a long run of cabinets to create an impact rivaling the fireplace on the opposite side of the room.

Unique Island Bar

The basement island bar is simple, but the details are what makes it unique.  The glass shelf over the raised bar ledge offers a way to display what the “Bar Keep” has on tap. Entertainment is key to this finished basement, and a wide open area at the bottom of the stairs is enough room for a pool table and foosball. To be certain your guest stay involved with what’s happening, the open movie room at the other end of the basement allows everyone to enjoy the big screen. The custom movie themed French doors add color and style to the movie room and also reveals an area where younger guest can hang out.

The Results Were Amazing

Whether it’s marveling at the engineering that made a suspended walkway possible or the delight at discovering an unexpected detail or feature, Advance Design & Construction introduces you to a true integration of design and build, your individuality and our architectural expertise, and the successful solution between ‘what if’ and ‘why not.’

It’s the magic that happens when your home is a true custom build. When your builder is your collaborative partner. And when you look around at what you’ve created and say, “Yes, this was all worth it.”

We would like to acknowledge the interior designer that brought the finishes together Libby Pantzlaff owner of Creative Interiors by Libby, to complete the vision of this custom home.
